The Ursuline Motherhouse on Shields Road is surrounded by woods. The winter/spring of 2013 seems locked in by snow and cold. If you sit on the patio of the Motherhouse you can have a clear view of the woods gradually coming to life. The buds on the trees struggle to bloom.
During the different seasons you can see the trees wear different colors. The fall trees sport a variety of bright colors. Then they gradually loose their leaves. The woods take on a thin look. You can see through thinned trees to the traffic on Shields Road. The winter trees gracefully wear the snow on their branches. When spring arrives the trees come back gradually wearing their green finery. However, even if it snows in early spring you can see within the middle of the woods some smaller bushes beginning to wear salmon colored outfits. In their finery they provide hope that the woods will be filled in with green trees that bloom into later spring. The woods grow into a green den where the sun dances through the leaves, healding a bright and playful summer.
Just as the seasons happen one day at a time so does our life. We go through periods of losing, waiting and then one day we rise to new life. We are baptized. As disciples of Jesus we live through his Life, Death and Resurrection.
